Celebrate National Happy Hour Day with Calirosa

Celebrate National Happy Hour Day by making classic cocktails with our Calirosa Rosa Blanco and Añejo tequilas.

National Happy Hour Day is an annual celebration of community and delicious drinks. Happy hours were established in 1913 by the United States Navy when people needed to decompress in the evenings by enjoying alcohol and engaging in dancing and boxing.

While some countries ban happy hours because some guests tend to have a little too much fun, National Happy Hour Day is always best celebrated when enjoying drinks responsibly. The tradition has grown and is now a mainstream term with people enjoying a pre-dinner beverage regularly.

When Is National Happy Hour Day?

Every year, National Happy Hour Day falls on November 12th. It's the perfect date, wedged between holidays to bring people together at bars and homes for your favorite drinks. If you didn’t need a reason already, this is your chance to celebrate with friends & family over some refreshing cocktails!

People celebrate National Happy Hour Day in various ways, from inviting friends over to practice their bartending skills to bar hopping to take advantage of half-priced drinks; the day is all about imbibing an alcoholic beverage.

Happy hour prices at bars and coffee shops that serve alcohol are offered mainly on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday — some even offer two drinks for the price of one.

Another great opportunity that National Happy Hour Day affords is the chance to try something new—like a wine barrel-aged tequila and craft cocktails made from the unique spirit.

There’s nothing better than taking a day off to relax, sip some tequila and enjoy the company of your friends. While some nations strictly regulate how long these happy hours last for (usually about 3 or 4 hours), each one always has an enjoyable vibe that makes them worth celebrating. How could you not have a good time on National Happy Hour Day?

What to Drink on National Happy Hour Day?

Various bars offer different beers, wines, and signature cocktails during happy hour. Sometimes a restaurant will have snacks and small plate specials that serve as a dinner appetizer.

Luckily, in 2021, National Happy Hour Day falls on a Friday, so let the weekend commence with delicious drinks!

We think enjoying a well-crafted cocktail made with an incredible spirit is the best thing to drink during happy hour.

Cocktails are mixed drinks that usually include at least one alcoholic spirit, one mixer, and some garnish. The more flair you add to your cocktail, the more fun you can have!

Classic cocktails—like martinis and negronis—are bar staples and are very delicious, but a day of celebration requires a more adventurous palate—like a margarita or paloma made with our Rosa Blanco tequila.

What Is Calirosa Tequila?

Calirosa creatively distills tequila by fusing traditional methods from Mexico with California style.

Calirosa offers three types of spirits that are crafted via an unprecedented aging process—using red-wine barrels. Rosa Blanco, Añejo, and Extra Añejo are produced by aging blue agave tequila in California red wine barrels.

One of our signature spirits, Rosa Blanco, aged thirty days in California red-wine barrels, offers strawberry, raspberry, and honey aromas. The tequila's flavor profile is sweet with orange, cherry, and dark berry notes.

Calirosa's Añejo sits in California red-wine barrels for eighteen months, allowing the spirit to develop vanilla, caramel, nutmeg, and chocolate notes.

Notably, the rounded flavor tops with toffee and cinnamon. And we’re so proud of our Añejo for winning the 2021 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition for the best añejo tequila!

Finally, the Añejo Extra is currently in barrels, so the aroma and the flavor are still developing! Any of these delicious options can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, and in one of our incredible cocktail creations

What Are the Best Happy Hour Drinks?

An exciting way to get a happy hour party started is by making tequila cocktails. Historically, cocktails are considered an American creation, but British mixed spirit punches preceded personal craft cocktails.

Prohibition stalled cocktail culture, but since its ending, distilled spirits have seen a resurgence in popularity, particularly with American bartenders working to develop new and creative beverages.

Tequila Paloma

The Paloma Rosa is an excellent cocktail using Calirosa Rosa Blanco. To make the Paloma, mix 1.5 ounces of Calirosa Rosa Blanco tequila with 1 ounce of lime juice, half an ounce of agave syrup, and 3 ounces of pink grapefruit juice.

Fresh lime and grapefruit juice improve the overall taste of the cocktail, but concentrated juices are acceptable in a pinch.

Rim the cocktail glass with Pink Himalayan salt, then pour the blended cocktail over ice. Finally, garnish the glass with a pink grapefruit slice for a decorative flair.

If you have access to a dehydrated pink grapefruit slice, using it in your cocktail will add contemporary class. The best type of glass to use is a highball cocktail glass.

Tequila Spritz

Our Pink Spritz is a delicious option for a happy hour drink. Made in a wine glass; this spritz comprises 1.5 ounces of Calirosa Rosa Blanco tequila, 1 ounce of Aperol, 1.5 ounces of tonic water, and 1.5 ounces of soda.

The drink is delightfully chilled when served over ice and can be best enjoyed when garnished with a grapefruit slice.

Tequila Margarita

Calirosa's Rosita Margarita is festive and fun! Add 1.5 ounces of Calirosa Rosa Blanco tequila, 2 ounces of lychee puree, half an ounce of lemon juice, and another half an ounce of lemon peel syrup to a shaker and shake well to mix.

It is best to use an old-fashioned cocktail glass or heavy-bottomed whiskey glass for the margarita. Rim the glass with red pepper salt, then pour the mixture from your shaker into the glass over one large ice cube.

This visually appealing take on a margarita is served with a pink petal as a final flourish.

Tequila Old Fashioned

While traditionally made with bourbon or rye, a Calirosa Old Fashioned is a unique take on a bar classic.

In a large beaker or mixer, add 1.5 ounces of Calirosa Añejo tequila, half an ounce of sweet vermouth, one brown sugar cube, and one drop of Angostura bitters. This cocktail is best served over one large ice cube or sphere. And don’t forget to add a curled orange peel to garnish.
